Tony’s Chocolonely, a member of the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI), has released its Annual Fair report, unpacking the company’s efforts to increase sustainability and address child labour in its cocoa supply chain. The report details the ongoing progress of Tony’s Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS), implemented by cooperatives with the support of ICI.

Key results

  • 1,701 children identified as in child labour. 366 children were remediated in 2020/21.
  • 9,480 cocoa-growing households participated in Tony’s CLMRS.
  • 97,332 participants in CLMRS awareness-raising since 2018.
  • Among the remediation activities carried out; 712 children received a birth certificate, 2,900 children received support to sign up to health insurance policies, 46 children received vocational training, 133 bicycles were provided to school children, and 883 school kits were distributed.

At ICI, we are pleased to see Tony’s continue to take action against child labour and report transparently on cases, remediation, and other activities to support children and their families. We look forward to continuing to support Tony’s CLMRS in the years to come.
