This letter is designed to accompany the distribution of school kits to children and households as part of CLMRS support activities or other programmes addressing child labour. It provides a short, clear explanation that links the school kit to the broader goals of protecting children and promoting education, reinforcing that support is part of a long-term effort rather than an isolated action.

Providing an explanation alongside material support helps households understand its purpose, prevents it from being perceived as a simple gift, and strengthens trust between field staff and households. By framing support positively and linking it to children’s futures, field staff can encourage behaviour change and promote greater household engagement in protecting children.

This letter was developed for the cocoa and coffee farming contexts of Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, but it can be adapted for use in similar contexts elsewhere.
