This study interviewed cocoa farmers in 11 of Ghana's cocoa growing districts. It sought to determine farmers' poverty status by comparing total annual household expenditure with national living standards. Results indicated that 7.4 percent of the sampled population were extremely poor while 11.4% were poor. The article recommends yield enhancing technology to increase cocoa farmers low productivity and heighten earnings.
