The international cocoa sector is increasingly acknowledging the presence of child labour in cocoa-producing regions, which has led to a wide range of sustainability initiatives. A common strategy of cocoa sustainability programmes is to decrease child labour by increasing households’ income towards a living income.

This paper aims to explore how household income, farm productivity and alternative income-generating activities are related to child labour prevalence.
