This report, produced by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, applies the concept of food systems resilience to assess the resilience of Ghana's cocoa value chain. The assessment demonstrates that varying levels of resilience are associated with different value chain activities. Cocoa farming is the least resilient value chain activity due to high dependency on income from cocoa, lack of planning and organizational skills among cocoa farmers and inadequate knowledge of efficient farming techniques.
