Ferrero, a member of the International Cocoa Initiative, has published its 2020 Sustainability Report. The report provides an update on the company’s ongoing efforts to support farmers in its cocoa supply chain, protect children’s rights, increase women’s empowerment, and more.

Key results include:

  • 93% of Ferrero-dedicated farmer groups are now covered by Ferrero’s Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System, or a similar system
  • In addition, 267 communities in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana were supported through a Community Development Programme.
  • 15,000 people in cocoa-growing communities received support to start up Income Generating Activities between 2019 and 2020.
  • 525 Village Saving and Loans Associations were active with around 13,000 members.

The report also provides results from a three-year project in the Nawa region with Save the Children covering 20 cocoa communities, following a Community Development approach.
