According to Cathy Pieters, the Director of Mondelez’ Cocoa Life, the company “is on a long-term journey to create a vibrant and strong cocoa supply chain” as well as transform the lives and livelihoods of farmers and the communities within which they live. To her and the rest of the Mondelez team, empowered and thriving cocoa communities are the essential foundations for a sustainable cocoa industry.

According to the report, Cocoa Life has reached 92,000 cocoa farmers in 861 communities.

The report shows the impact Cocoa Life is making in Ghana, Ivory Coast, the Dominican Republic and other Cocoa Life countries. As part of their activities for 2016, they offered productivity packages to farmers in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana which included farming inputs such as fertilizer, seedlings and planting materials. The Cocoa Life programme also offered capacity building in improved farming methods to the farmers.
