A multi-stakeholder organisation, ICI brings together different actors in the cocoa sector to prevent and address child and forced labour.

ICI is an independent, non-profit organisation that works to support responsible business practices of cocoa and chocolate companies and ensure a better future for cocoa-growing communities.

We work to achieve strong national and international policies and standards to ensure a supportive enabling environment for the cocoa sector, where impact at scale is prioritised.

We conduct research, and we develop, test, evaluate, and share new innovations to advance the scale up of action against child and forced labour in the cocoa supply chain.

Child labour and forced labour are complex issues. We know that to protect children and workers, these issues must first be understood, and solutions must be grounded in evidence.

People are the main asset of our organisation and a key component of collective success. We are committed to ensuring ICI is a great place to work.

Through collective engagement and innovative approaches, ICI’s Human Resources Department recruits, develops and retains high performing talent, as well as fostering a healthy, safe, innovative, and motivating work environment for its employees. This maximises both individual and organisational potential to improve the lives of children and to reduce child labour and forced labour in cocoa-growing communities.

2020 Annual Report
ICI’s 2020 annual report looks back over the 2015-2020 strategic period during which the effectiveness of child-centred community development approaches and Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems, implemented with our partners, was confirmed. During this period over 420,000 children in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana were reached by ICI’s work, surpassing our initial target of 375,000.
