This report consists of a baseline study for six communities where UTZ and Solidaridad cocoa programme projects have been implemented. It found a positive association between knowledge levels amongst new participants compared to older participants, but no relationship was found between farm productivity, efficiency or income generated from cocoa.
The study was commissioned by UTZ Certified and Solidaridad to create an effective benchmark for future projects.
