  • Achiachen, a cocoa community in Ghana, benefits from drinkable water
    15 October 2015
    The WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme (JMP) 2015 report estimates that 663 million people in the world still lack improved drinking water sources including unprotected wells and springs and surface water. It further estimates that more than six million in Ghana’s rural areas and small towns do not have access to safe drinking water.

  • 30 women benefit from soap making at Anglo in Sefwi Wiawso municipal

    In Sefwi Wiawso Municipal, the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) supports 12 cocoa growing communities, with Child Centred Community Development interventions to increase child protection and empower women. Economic opportunities for women are limited to activities such as farming, , soap making, hairdressing, rural craft and petty trading.

  • Getting ready for school: Children receive more than 20,000 items of school equipment
    15 August 2015
    Children from cocoa-growing communities have received school kits for the start of the school year 2015-2016 through Nestlé's Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS). These kits were delivered to children by representatives of Nestlé and ICI in the presence of parents and officials of the cocoa cooperatives of the target areas.

  • Increased school enrollment in Eshireso Kokofu

    Eshireso Kokofu is located in the Wassa Amenfi East district of Western Region of Ghana with an estimated population of 590 inhabitants, of whom 150 were children at the time it was selected for ICI support.
