ECOM, an International Cocoa Initiative partner and Board Member, has recently published its 2019 Sustainability Report. The report charts the company’s progress towards a sustainable supply chain in a number of products, including cocoa.
The report provides an update on ECOM’s steps to increase child protection in its cocoa supply chain in West Africa. ICI collaborates with ECOM through the implementation of Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems (CLMRS). These systems actively identify, monitor, remediate and prevent child labour cases. ICI supports the training of ECOM’s Sustainable Management Services teams who carry out child labour monitoring and raise awareness within communities and households. The ICI-ECOM CLMRS also makes use of innovative child labour risk mapping, allowing key households to be identified and appropriate remediation provided where it is needed most.
