  • Child labour legislation in Ethiopia
    ICI Analysis
    13 March 2023
    Child labour legislation in Ethiopia
This report provides an overview of relevant national legislation and policies aiming to protect children from child labour in Ethiopia. It includes comparisons with international norms and standards on child labour, with a focus on those most applicable to child labour in agriculture and the coffee sector. In the absence of a national hazardous activity framework, the report draws on existing good practice and recent countrywide studies of child labour to propose a list of hazardous activities, which could be included in surveys to assess the prevalence of child labour in coffee growing areas

The COVID-19 consequences on child labour in agrifood systems
This paper provides insights and evidence on how the COVID-19 pandemic and related policy responses to curb its spread influence the risk of child labour in agriculture through different pathways. Based on these evidence, the document provides concluding reflections and recommendations on priority

The report offers a comprehensive overview of trends in action by States, businesses and investors. It describes how despite progress, children's rights remain at risk of invisibility even though virtually all forms of business activity can have adverse impact on children

The elimination of child labour and its root causes – the guidance offered by the ILO MNE Declaration
This brief, prepared by the ILO, seeks to raise awareness on the root causes of child labour. Key findings: Increased efforts to eliminate child labour have yielded remarkable results in recent decades. However, the global progress against child labour has stalled for the first time in two decades and, without mitigation measures, the COVID-19 crisis is likely to push millions more children into child labour. Now more than ever, businesses – national and multinational, small, medium and large – have a critical role to play in tackling child labour and addressing its root causes. By
