Fairtrade Foundation and Mondelez carried out a mapping exercise to better understand the scope and scale of current sustainability initiatives designed to support cocoa farmer livelihoods in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. The report has two principal objectives: to provide visibility to the sector of current initiatives and to avoid potential overlaps of implementation. The report provides three main recommendations:

  • Improve collaboration within the sector, including actors across the supply chain from cocoa cooperatives to cocoa buyers and governments.
  • More support for sharecroppers and labourers.
  • Better integration of farmer voices into programming.
