Ivory Community Development (ICD), an Ivorian service company specialising in sustainability programmes for rural cocoa-growing communities, has joined the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) as an industry member.

ICD supports actors across the cocoa sector in implementing solutions that meet social, environmental, and regulatory standards. The company works closely with cooperatives and producers to promote sustainable agricultural practices, focusing on:

  • Strengthening traceability across the supply chain
  • Protecting the environment through agroforestry initiatives
  • Fostering community development
  • Improving the living conditions of rural families

Through these efforts, ICD aims to build supply chains that are responsible, resilient, and respectful of human rights.

“Our decision to join ICI is rooted in a strong alignment with the foundation’s mission and values: its dedication to protecting children’s rights and promoting decent working conditions in cocoa value chains,” said Doriane Ange Dacouri, Head of Sustainability at ICD.

“This membership is an opportunity to actively contribute to ICI’s collective efforts and to strengthen our programmes through technical collaboration and shared expertise.” Dacouri further affirmed that ICD looks forward to benefiting from exchanges of best practices, capacity-building tools, and opportunities for joint project development.

ICI Executive Director Matthias Lange welcomed the new partnership, “We’re very pleased to have ICD join our network of members. The company’s commitment to social sustainability in the cocoa sector in Côte d’Ivoire is inspiring, and we look forward to working together to build responsible and resilient supply chains. Addressing child labour requires a shared effort, no one actor can do it alone. By combining the strengths and experience of our members, we can extend our reach and increase our collective impact across the cocoa sector.”
