Our research and experience show that women can make programmes to tackle child labour more effective. This Learning into action brief summarizes practical action to improve the gender balance of staff in sustainability programmes.

Our 2023 Annual Report highlights how ICI is advancing efforts to combat child labour in cocoa communities in West Africa and to improve the lives of children and adults of these communities.

In 2021, ICI and its members introduced new reporting responsibilities, to support the drive for rigour and transparency in the sector, to recognize efforts currently being made and to motivate further action. The following results are from the reporting season October 2021 – September 2022.

Two core activities of a Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) are to raise awareness amongst farming families on harm resulting from child labour; and to identify children in, or at risk of child labour through an active monitoring process.
