The International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) is a non-profit foundation that works to protect the rights of children and adults in cocoa-growing areas in West Africa. To reinforce its team, ICI Ghana office is looking for a Landscape Project and Partner Support Manager.

Under the supervision of ICI Deputy Country Director/Programmes Coordinator, the purpose of this position is to ensure effective implementation of ICI Landscape projects and support ICI partners on the implementation of their Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) in pursuit of the ICI objectives for the country Office in Ghana. S/he will work across all ICI country Landscape projects and support ICI partners in the implementation of their CLMRS. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  1. Networking, Advocacy and External Engagement
  • Support the strengthening of interoperability of cocoa companies Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) and Ghana Child Labour Monitoring System (GCLMS) to improve transparency, accountability, referrals, remediation and reporting of child labour cases. 
  • Engage in productive dialogue and ensuring effective collaboration with national authorities, international organization, cocoa and chocolate companies and civil society organizations around the search for scalable, and sustainable coordinated solutions addressing child and forced labour risks in the cocoa sector.
  • Ensure reputation, credibility and positioning of ICI’s landscape projects, coordination efforts of child labour interventions in the landscapes and contribute to the integration in referral mechanism.
  • Promote among cocoa companies the use of Child Protection toolkit for social behavioural change for system strengthening approach in the landscapes.
  • Develop terms of reference and support child labour and child protection trainings for supply chain/industry staff and national/district level actors operating on the landscapes

  1. Project Management
  • Support the development of tools and guidelines allowing the systematic integration of data from cocoa companies Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) and Ghana Child Labour Monitoring System (GCLMS), in accordance with data protection laws.
  • Improve capacity of the cocoa companies to implement effective child safeguarding policies within their supply chain.
  • Improve the capacity of cocoa companies to respect human and children’s rights within their sourcing communities and support preventing and remediating efforts.
  • Strengthen knowledge and capacity of cocoa companies on referral pathways and reporting mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of public social services providers at the district level.
  • Ensure a field-based collaboration with relevant partners (including cooperatives, local authorities, civil society representatives and other NGOs).
  • Organize regular stakeholders’ coordination’s meetings in the landscapes project implementation area.
  • Provide support to the programme team in the development of new partnerships and collaboration mechanisms at national and local levels.
  • Represent ICI at programme and project functions and meetings as agreed with the Deputy Country Director/Programmes Coordinator
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports and update on project activities.
  • Participate in by-weekly internal coordination meetings between ICI Ghana and Geneva to discuss project implementation progress and challenges. 

  1. Partner Support 
  • Provide field-based technical support to ICI CLMRS partners to implement their CLMRS project, including providing guidance to implementation team to collect and submit relevant and timely data on CLMRS.
  • Ensure project processes and outcomes are properly documented to identify potential good practices.
  • Ensure a field-based collaboration with ICI CLMRS partners field team.
  • Assess ICI partners capacities and systems in addressing child labour and forced labour, make recommendations for improvement, and when needed in collaboration with ICI Training Manager, build their capacities where there are gaps.
  • Provide technical support to ICI partners to analysis their CLMRS data in line with agreed Key Performance Indicators

4. Mission Support and other duties 

  • Support the organization of ICI missions and visits to project areas.
  • Perform any other duties as required by ICI Deputy Country Director/Programmmes Coordinator and agreed by the Country Director

Experience and skills 

Education and work experience

Essential:

  • A master’s degree in development policy and planning/studies, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline, with at least 3 years’ experience in stakeholder collaboration, networking and partnership building.
  • Programme development, report preparation and knowledge documentation.
  • Experience in working at national and sub-national levels.
  • Knowledge and experience in partnership building and stakeholders collaboration.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Irreproachable behaviour and commitment to the protection of children and respect for the rights of the child.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of child protection and/or child labour 
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with partners and staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure, well organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cultures, including with team members and those based in other countries.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken English, and a Ghanaian language preferably Twi. Knowledge of French would be an important plus.

Skills

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communications skills in English
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent stills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) ability to work effectively in multi-cultural teams, including working remotely with colleagues on the field and in other countries .
