    This report presents the results of an ICI innovative pilot project that set up child-friendly spaces in three cocoa-growing communities in Côte d'Ivoire. By providing a safe place to play, learn and meet other children, the project aimed to promote children's rights and offer an alternative to going to the fields to work.

    Child labour in cocoa growing regions of Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire: an analysis of academic attainment in children engaged in hazardous labour
    This paper examines the relationship between child labour and educational attainment and explores the distinction between harmful and non-harmful agricultural cocoa work. esults show that hazardous child labour increases the odds of repeating a class and work-related injury compared to non-hazardous labour.

    Protective School Environment Assessment
    The Protective School Environment Assessment is a simple tool to assess three dimensions of a quality learning environment: safety, stability, and nurturance. It is a proxy measure, which captures aspects related to the physical and relational environment at school. Higher scores are associated with lower levels of teacher violence, higher levels of pupil wellbeing at school, and better learning outcomes for children.     This ICI study explores the relationship between child labour, school attendance and child well-being among children in cocoa-growing households in Côte d’Ivoire.
