In cocoa-growing communities, children and other household members can be exposed to pesticides not only during field work, but also in and around the home.

Spraying service providers have a vital role to play in reducing these risks. That’s why ICI has developed a training module tailored for spraying service providers. This training complements agricultural training they may have already received by focusing specifically on safe practices to prevent pesticide exposure among children, pregnant women, and other vulnerable groups.

This training manual is designed for facilitators and provides step-by-step guidance to deliver the training, including activity instructions, suggested speech notes, and key messages. A set of visual posters is also available to help convey complex information in simple, accessible ways.

Good practices

This Learning into Action brief outlines good practices for delivering effective training and offers practical recommendations to support sustainable behaviour change.

ICI has also developed a behaviour change training for cocoa-growing households on how to better protect children from pesticide exposure. This training can be accessed here.
