In cocoa-growing communities, children are not only exposed to pesticides during farm work, but also in their daily environment, when playing outdoors, handling contaminated materials, or through residues brought into the home. Protecting children from exposure to these products is therefore not only the responsibility of spraying providers, but of all members of cocoa-growing communities.
Raising awareness of the risks associated with pesticide exposure is essential to protecting children, pregnant women, and members of cocoa-producing communities. It helps producers, spraying service providers, and households understand the dangers associated with pesticides and adopt safer practices.
ICI has developed two films that provide practical advice on how to better protect children from the harmful effects of pesticides.
