In 2021, ICI joined the Cocoa Coalition, an informal group of cocoa and chocolate companies), certification organisations , NGOs and multi-stakeholder organisations such as ICI, which aims to support the development of relevant legislation, including the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), the EU Forced Labour Regulation, or the EU Deforestation Regulation, to drive the production of sustainable cocoa within responsibly managed supply chains and within a supportive enabling environment.
In 2025, the Coalition enlarged its scope of work to other agricultural sectors, such as coffee, cotton, and palm oil, becoming the EU Sustainable Supply Chains Coalition.
In 2024, ICI joined the newly formed UK Cocoa Coalition, which undertakes similar policy advocacy activities, focused on the British landscape.
