Save the Children implemented the Stop Child Labour in Cocoa Sourcing Communities project in partnership with Ferrero between 2020 and 2025 in selected cocoa-growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire. The project responded to persistently high rates of child labour in cocoa production and to the recognition that child labour is deeply embedded within broader systems of poverty, limited educational access, social norms, and under-resourced child protection institutions. Rather than focusing solely on child labour as a compliance issue, the project sought to address both immediate manifestations and the underlying structural drivers that shape children’s vulnerability.
This Final Evaluation was commissioned to assess the project’s performance and results across the agreed evaluation dimensions of Effectiveness and Impact, Inclusion and Participation, Sustainability through Transformational Partnership, Satisfaction and Experience, and Cost Analysis. Beyond accountability, the evaluation sought to generate evidence and learning to inform future programming and strengthen public–private collaboration in child labour prevention.
