Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited, an international trader of premium agricultural commodities, joins the International Cocoa Initiative (ICI) as a member. The company views this membership as a progression in its commitment to responsible sourcing and protecting the wellbeing of the communities in which it operates, with the goal of eliminating child labour from its supply chain. With its main base of operations in Nigeria, the company specialises in sourcing and exporting cocoa beans, in addition to cashew nuts, soybeans, and sesame seeds, serving clients across global markets.

Sunbeth Global Concepts’ Sustainability Manager, Modupe Ojo, expressed the company’s commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and community development, explaining that the company collaborates directly with farming communities to promote responsible agricultural practices and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality produce.

“As a company deeply rooted in the cocoa industry, we understand the critical importance of safeguarding the rights and futures of the children in our supply chain,” she explained.

“Our commitment to sustainable cocoa production goes beyond compliance, and covers creating long-term, positive impact for farming communities. We are therefore excited to work with ICI to strengthen our child labour monitoring and remediation systems and drive meaningful change,” she continued.

Within its cocoa value chain, Sunbeth Global Concepts emphasises sustainability and the prevention of child labour. The organisation has a dedicated sustainability team that implements Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems (CLMRS) in cocoa-producing communities, alongside regular farmer education programmes that focus on the dangers of child labour, deforestation, and environmentally harmful practices.

“As we know, no one actor alone will solve the problem of child labour. Expanding our reach across more cocoa-growing regions in West Africa helps us achieve this goal,” said ICI Executive Director Matthias Lange. Welcoming Sunbeth Global Concepts, he continued, “Today we’re proud to welcome the first ICI member to join from Nigeria. Together we can create more sustainable cocoa-growing communities and foster lasting change, and we look forward to working with Sunbeth Global Concepts to achieve this.”
