Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community based organisations (CBOs) play a prominent and visible role in the campaign to end child and forced labour in the cocoa sector. In addition to discovering and publicising cases, they are best placed to work closely with local communities to stimulate the debate necessary to change accepted practices.  Local NGOs play a role as a facilitator, an informant and a coach in the community developed initiatives.  The most valuable initiatives are those that are developed and implemented by the children and their parents.  This philosophy guides the ICI approach. 

• Global Response Initiative (GLORI) is a Registered Non Governmental Non-Profit making organization dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of individuals, organizations and communities to improve their social conditions. The organization is made up of professionals from the health, educational, social welfare and legal sector. GLORI is a member of the Coalition of NGO’s for Health, Ghana, the Ghana HIV/AIDS Network (GHANET), Western Region, Wassa Amenfi West District.

Community Development Consult Network (CODESULT) was formed in 1994 and registered in 1996 with special focus area including: environment and forest management, water and sanitation, mobilizing and training of farmers groups and helping the access to rural bank’s support by preparing a comprehensive business plan. Western Region, Wassa Amenfi West District.

Support for Community Mobilisation Project/Programme (SCMPP), began the collaboration with ICI in 2004. Its mission is to improve the socio-economic level of the rural and urban poor through awareness raising activities, mobilization of human and material resources. Western Region, Mpohor East District and Shama Ahanta East District.

• Help Advance Community Opportunity Goals (HACOG) is a registered local non-governmental, non-profit making and development oriented organization. HACOG’s mission is to facilitate, support and sustain efforts in health, human rights advocacy, water and sanitation, environmental protection, education, research, consultancy and family life education. Western Region, Mpohor East District.
• Ghana Project Planning and Management Network (PROMAG) was established in October 1996 with the sole aim of working for rural progress. Its mission is to support the Government of Ghana’s efforts towards building the human resources capacity of the rural underserved and disadvantaged through awareness creating, sensitization, education and training so as to improve their standard of living. It aims to promote a model of participatory, sustainable and self reliant development through action research, education and training. Western Region, Sefwi Wiawso District.
• RECA is a national NGO, started its operation on June 1998, with specific areas of expertise (Land Management Projects, Forest Management Projects, Child Labour, Health, and Waste Management Project).
• Oasis Foundation International Ghana is a Christian, non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan, non-denominational organization which was established in May 2000. Oasis Foundation International serves the needs of poor and vulnerable children generally.

CARITAS Bas Sassandra Region, Sous préfecture de San Pedro and Gd Béréby. CARITAS Cote d’Ivoire has been created in 1955 and is a network of development and charity Catholic entities. CARITAS Cote d’Ivoire is composed by a national office, which coordinates and supervises the actions of 15 regional offices, and 400 operational teams. 

• Femme Action Development (FEMAD). Created in 2001, FEMAD seeks to fight against the poverty of the woman, the child and the girls, in rural and urban zone, Bas Sassandra Region, sous préfecture de San Pedro and Meagui.
• Renforcement des Capacités (RENFCAP) is a capacity building NGO located in the Agneby Region, Sous préfecture d’Adzope et départment d’Alepe. This organisation aims at building capacities in rural areas; and elaboration, managing, monitoring and evaluating development projects and projects against HIV-Aids. This organisation is involved in projects fighting against child labour since 2004.
• Assistance Internationale à l’Enfance Coeur et Action (AIECA) is a NGO aiming at defending children’ rights, including eradicating exploitation, violence and abuses. AIECA contributes to the the improvement of life conditions of population in general, but specifically of children and women living in rural areas.
